Advanced Humanoid Robotics



Sony's QRIO is a bipedal robot that combines and to create a cutting edge product. It can walk over many surfaces, dance, recognize people's faces and voices, have a conversation, and even express itself differently based on its judgements of each person it meets.

is intended as an , but is at the forefront of technological advancement in . Unfortunely, development of QRIO was suspended near the end of January 2006. So you won't be seeing these on the store shelves, even though the price tag would've been around $50,000 per unit!

And now they have robots playing soccer without any human control. You know what that means? Yeah ... YoYoDyne or CyberDyne or whichever one of the Dyne's made Arnold famous.

You're talking about RoboCup founded in 1993. Their goal:

By mid-21st century, a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players shall win the soccer game, complying with the official rule of the FIFA, against the winner of the most recent World Cup.
